If tea was the drink of choice for any Gods out there, Mariage Frères would be the brand they’d have nestling next to their kettle. Not that Gods are probably all that into brands, but that’s a whole other matter. Generations of the Mariage Frères family have been hell-bent on sourcing the perfect cup of tealeaves. Since 1660 the tea trade has been imbedded in the family’s way of life and thankfully they have never stopped.

You don't need politicians to divide the country – you just need Marmite. And the people at Marmite have done it again with their latest offering: Marmite cereal bars. No, don't rub your ears – you heard right: CEREAL BARS. To be honest, when we first heard about this new idea from Marmite HQ, our immediate thoughts were 'Hhhmm, a step too far?' But, the weird thing is, although they do taste strange – it's a wonderful kind of strange.

McDougall's have put together a range of recipes packs that children can cook with the supervision of more senior folk, to get more in touch with what goes on in the kitchen. The range, which is aimed at pre-teens, includes recipes kits such as Scrummy Pizza Swirls, and Golden Chewy Flapjacks. The iLoveMyGrub team decided to test the Chocolate Chip Muffin kit out on Jonathan (aged 7), Zoe (aged 4) and Mickey (aged 2) who all love anything chocolaty and muffin-based.

This full-bodied number from Montana’s Spring collection, offers up a red wine of substance, without too much of a heavy punch. Flavours of blackcurrant and cherry pervade this Pinot Noir, and with its soft, ripe tannins, it makes for the perfect accompaniment to chicken and lamb dishes, not to mention a medium-rare hunk of roast beef. This Pinot Noir has been matured for 4 – 6 months in a selection of new and 1-year old oak, and gives out a hint of spice along with its fruity flavour.

Is overindulgence in wine throwing your brain off kilter? Afraid you might have to put down the bottle for a while? Fear not, my kindred, ‘feng shui wine’ is here to save the day: you can rebalance your frazzled ch’i AND keep your glass charged thanks to the Montes Purple Angel from Chile’s Colchagua Valley.
This outstanding oak-aged red (a blend of 92% carménère and 8% petit verdot) is made by Aurelio Montes, a true boundary-pusher of the region who, among other eccentricities (he employs acrobats to pick grapes in one of his more hard-to-access vineyards), has introduced a feng shui system in his cellar.

Nairn's have come up with these healthy snacks that look like crisps but are in fact super thin oat biscuits. They have been baked, rather than fried - earning instant brownie points when it comes to lowering fat content. They're also wheat free, with no hydrogenated fat or added sugar. So - do they taste terrible then? Well, no - they come in three flavours, and although the tomato, garlic & basil and the salt & pepper flavours didn't have us rolling around in ecstasy, the cheese flavoured Oat Bakes were extremely good and had us rummaging around at the bottom of the packet before you could say "pass me another.

The people at this rather forward thinking Belgian chocolate company have decided to team the concept of chocolate with the concept of health. Strange you might think? Well, not so really. Not so strange, when you know that cocoa contains more antioxidants than goji berries. Interesting, as essentially what this means, is that we can eat something that we know how to pronounce. It also means that instead of scouring the shelves of your local health store for some highly nutritious fish cartilage (so good for you I’ve heard…), you can instead just pop some quite delectable chocolate into your mouth.

This green tea offering from Newby has a pleasingly mild taste to it, without the hard, dry hit you sometimes get with a mouthful of heavily brewed stuff. Each gold, foil-wrapped tea bag has been stuffed with needle shaped tea leaves, brewed to create a delicate cup of green sencha tea. The leaves, picked from early harvesting tea bushes are steamed first before their tea bag-encased destiny follows.
According to Newby, the perfect cup is achieved by immersing the tea bags in boiling water for 2-3 minutes.
