Riceworks gourmet brown rice chips
There’s snack salvation at last for all those people with a troublesome wheat allergy. Riceworks have launched a range of tortilla-style chips, made purely from brown rice. Without a gram of wheat in sight, they’re a great wheat-free chip to nibble on. Except that you probably won’t nibble so much as gobble these moreish chips down. You might also find that it won’t just be the wheat-free foodie crunching on these snacks, as they don’t compromise on flavour, which a good deal of wheat-free products can be found guilty of.
Yes, they are made from brown rice, so you’d be forgiven for thinking that they might taste like cardboard – at best, flavoured cardboard. But, you get more than a pleasant surprise when you try these chips – they taste, to be honest, rather superior to many of those wheat-packed tortilla snacks. A lot more natural for starters and a little bit more bulky, which makes for a bigger bite and a more satisfying crunch when you get your mouth around them. They come in a range of flavours including sweet chilli, salsa mexicana, sea salt and sesame soy. A great snack for coeliacs and non-coeliacs alike, and with no cholesterol, wheat or gluten present, it really doesn’t matter if you eat a whole packet to yourself. Available in Tesco at a very reasonable £1.49.
